Henna class

Part of our orientation program included a henna class! It was fun. 🙂 I actually learned that in the olden days, women would take days to make the henna by hand, grinding henna leaves and tumeric and other ingredients by hand and then would use a stick to make their designs. Our teacher and Idex volunteer house manager Sudha said that these days, people buy ready made cones which don’t last as long and sometimes don’t get as a good colour as the old school way. In any case, I had fun practicing, and like the design that Sudha put on my hand.

I was told to copy the one on the right. Mine is on the left. Okay, it's not as pretty, but I think I did well for my first try!! :)
