My flight was changed today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. so I got to participate in the Holi celebration. According to Wikipedia, “The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships.”
It is still early in the morning here, so I haven’t seen the “real” Holi yet, but apparently it gets crazy with people throwing dry paint, or shooting coloured water from water guns and lots of music and dancing. Everyone also goes from house to house and puts colours on their friends and family. Rinku, the cook here in Delhi, said it’s a day when no one is angry. I love that! And I love that they welcome spring with 30 degree weather and lots of colour. Happy Holi!
